DIY Wooden Tool Box

I have always loved the look of vintage wooden tool boxes decorated for the holidays. Since we had no wooden tool caddy of our own I asked my husband to help me make one :). I wanted our DIY wooden tool box to have a rustic, weathered look so we decided to use pallet wood because pallet projects are just the best! I am sharing our new wooden tool box as part of a new monthly blog hop and this month is all about fall DIY projects. To see even more fall projects from my friends be sure to click on my blog link at the bottom of this post.
The first thing we did was break apart the pallet so we could use the boards for creating the tool box.
Once the boards were off of the pallet, he cut them into 5 pieces.  One for the bottom, two matching sides and two end pieces.
Using a pin nailer, he nailed the boards together. Lastly, He sanded down the wooden tool box lightly to keep the texture of the wood.
I added 6 mason jars with fresh mums to my new pallet tool box to add a little color to our outside patio table. I have been moving my new tool box all around our home to add a new look for my fall decorating :). Next year I hope to fill it with apples from our home orchard. But the best part of this project is that it was totally free!
