Thanks but shouldn't the concrete be smoothed with a sander or something first?

Where is the concrete, and on what surface, for example, wall, floor?

It is my patio - Concrete is about 3 weeks old and I would rather do it my self if not too difficult. it is approx. 12' x 15' - I don't have a sander but maybe I could rent one - I am pretty sure I need to sand it smooth before applying any stain but I dont' want to get involved if too difficult

Oh, 3 weeks old, that's new!

I am not sure where you got the idea from that a concrete patio needs to be sanded before it is painted. Concrete can be very slippery once painted, and for walking on, really, you want to have some texture to it, as it provides a grip.

I used the Epoxy Coating on my outdoor patio."Kits" are available in different brands and available for purchase at retail stores. It is applied in two stages, one is the colored layer, the other is the clear coat. It is put on with a long handled roller. A 12x15 patio is quite large, but still manageable; you will likely need two cans.

This coating seals the concrete from its natural porousness, reducing staining and discolouring, and making it more water proof. The top coating gives a nice smooth, but not slippery feel to bare feet, and the new surface makes it very easy to hose with water and sweep clean.

It is important to apply the epoxy coats during optimal outdoor temperature. Where are you located? If you are thinking about doing it now (November ) it might be too cold.......

ok - thank you - that helps a lot - I am in Texas - yesterday was in the low 80's and today in the 40's so I may have to wait - the weather here is bi-polar.

Yes, Texas can vary depending on where you are in the state. If the days are varying that much, then you might want to wait until you are into consistent temps again. I did mine in high 60's low 70's and it worked really well.
