Hi Everyone, We have a plain fence that borders our patio area which runs between the side of the garage and the edge of our property. Since we live on a corner, we have no back yard and I actually like being closer to the front of the house and watching our neighborhood. While I love the color of the fence, I felt it needed some sprucing up.
Love the color but it needs sprucing up.
My idea was to have some butterflies chasing some flowers as they moved along the fence So I started with the butterflies and one flower. These were easy to put up. I used some finishing nails that we had around the house in the openings with both the flower and the butterflies. I had left one chain on the flowers so I started there and put a second nail in between the petals on the bottom. The butterflies had a lot of small openings along the edge and I wanted them angled so I angled them first then put the nails wherever they would work on the fence.

Butterflies and flower start it off.
I started with the butterflies and 1 flower between them. I continued moving across the top of the fence randomly putting up more flowers.
Random flowers
Here's what it looked like when it was finished. (I missed a few of the flowers in this pic). This is the background to our patio. As you can see, our rug is out and some of our furniture is too. We have a round table with and umbrella, a wooden double seat chair, a bench across the back that will hold plants and a lounge chair that my hubby bought for his Mom before she passed away. Our grill is off the carpet. I hope you've been inspired by my chasing butterflies and can come up with something you'd enjoy to dress up your patio!
Pic is missing some flowers. There were 12.
Once our patio furniture was placed and some flower pots with colorful petunias were added around the green rug, I was very happy with the look. I loved coming home to see this view of the fence next to our patio! You can use anything that YOU like to dress up your fence too. I've been thinking about adding some broken pieces of a mirror next year if I can figure out how to do it without making it permanent. It's funny how some crafts are never completely done. It's so much fun to change them up a bit from year to year.
