Let me try. 1. your bedroom has some nice features. The style of the room might well be described as 'contemporary-modern.'

Your furniture is specific. Its looks to be a 'set' and I would describe it as 'traditional.' (excepting the couch)

I would ask, what colors do you like? I see a variation of one basic color.

What would you like the room to make you feel when you walk in?

Have you seen a 'perfect' bedroom? Can you describe it?

Does anyone share this room? Have they any vision of a 'perfect' bedroom?

Changing the color on the walls and ceiling would make the biggest change for the lowest cost.

Adding color and pattern to the drapes and bedding would be a nice step, as would come complimentary throw rugs in the seating area and next to the sides of the bed.

Lighting, in the seating area, next to the bed, in the desk alcove could add pools of accent to the room.

Art, of your taste, but remembering you theme could also add points of interest.

A padded bench at the end of the bed is another way to supply practical comfort.

I looks like the mirrored dresser is blocking a window? Why?

A mirror in the desk alcove could bring bring both light and action to a dead space.

If you are open to a few inexpensive suggestions, I would take a standard 1/2 inch thick piece of plywood, and cover it with batting and fabric to make a new head board. attach a hollywood frame to it, and loose the bed entirely. I would put one of the night stands near the seating, and replace it with a comparable sized one, just something you like but different. If you remove the dresser and mirror, I'd replace it with a chair, something a bit taller, very comfy, and add a pillow and maybe a throw to that.

For myself, I like plants/flowers. I would keep a small group of clay pots in the sun with assorted nice scents, and rotate them in and out of the bedroom, to appeal to that sense. I keep lavender, hyacinth, amaryllis and daffodils in season available for my room.

Personal note: I noted the great architechture in the room, You also have a great chandelier. from what I could see, it had a mid east flavor. I always look for one thing I like, and use it as a starting point. Perhaps that could be the starting point for you?

Think Aladdin. ottomans, screens, jewel tones, sheep skin rugs, brass lamps, arabic tiles around the windows set high on the walls, even on the steps of the tray ceiling with faux silver painted in the center.

    Can you see that?

    That was from your chandelier.

Good luck, you have some great bones to work with.

i think it needs some additional colour...I would look for a complimentary fabric for floor to ceiling drapes for the windows over the bed (that wouldn't necessarily be closed, but would 'frame' the bed) and for the door area. Will the dresser fit where the desk is? I would move the desk to the sitting area, the mirror dresser to where the desk is and centre the chaise to the windows, get a desk chair with fabric to match the new curtains. The table is too high for your chaise, you need something smaller/lower (or get rid of it altogether).

It is a lovely large room so there is nice space to work with! However, currently, there is not enough definition to the individual areas. Each of the bedsides, sitting alcove, and dresser areas each need their own source of lighting, on dimmer switches, so that the light can be raised or lowered for different moods, times of the day and different seasons. This does not require any construction, and immediately will make the areas softer, more inviting and flexible.

An area rug with some color on top of the carpet would instantly define the sitting area into its own special cozy space.

The bed cover and the cushions look flat, tired, and drab. They should be replaced with those that are fluffier, thicker and of a brighter color. The same, or complimentary colors should be used in the sitting area with cushions and wall decor. The vertical drapes behind the dresser look dated, and conflict with the soft round shape of the mirror.

If your budget permits then get rid of the verticals. They are much too stiff and office-like for a bedroom. Replace with bottom-to-top either room-darkening, or light-diffusing cellular blinds. I would recommend shutters on the high transom windows. Currently, the sharp squares high on the walls look harsh, and anything but gentle or cozy.

I think it's lovely. I would maybe add a couple of tall plants; they'd look great with the paler greens and mauve colors you have. You could also hang some oversize artwork on either side of the bed. I'm not sure how to describe it, but something with height there could help bring the overhead windows and bed together.

This is Bold (I live in Florida) Black bedroom with trim color to match your furniture well I'm partial to black and it can look classy! I'll add my video. If you are interested in how I painted my formica counter with craft paint and used epoxy for a hard glossy finish to make a faux granite look let me know.

I noticed that there are hardly any pictures on the wall - maybe you could add some....and add some color too. All suggestions received so far are great :)

I have a question for you (maybe others can answer too) - how did you manage to get the blinds/curtains for your arched window - I have moved and have an arched window in my breakfast area - and I'm struggling with how to cover it, yet maintain the curve

Yes, yes and yes! I agree with all of the above. I would, however, do something else to help define your 'sitting' area. Think about giving it a coat of paint maybe 2 shades darker than the rest of the room. On the wall where the bed is, you'll need to run a length of molding from floor to ceiling to cover the line and help establish that is a different section of your room. Definitely add some more calming wall art and perhaps sheers on tension rods over the transom windows. You might also consider painting the fireplace the same color as the alcove. Plants (silk or real) will also add some life in the room. You have a great place. Now make it work for you!

It needs drama. I would do some kind of metallic or pearl treatment in the trey ceiling and run rope/led lights along edge. I too would deepen the wall color and take it up on the ceiling to highlight the trey ceiling. trey ceiiing color luminous pear or soft gold... https://www.amazon.com/Rust-Oleum-Metallic-253611-Decorative-32-Ounce/dp/B003EELN0A/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1509170345&sr=8-1&keywords=rustoleum%2Bmetallic%2Bpaint&th=1

I would remove all the verticle blinds. In the sitting area, I would do a bank of sheers.

Over the mirrored dresser, I would remove blinds and curtains. Then I would do one of two things: a) starting at the corner where the dresser is, I would do sheers across that wall, behind the bed and straight over to the curved sitting area. And put an area rug under the bed to define the area a bit more in a darker green like the walls. http://www.brylanehome.com/decor/Crushed-Voile-RodPocket-Panel-Scarf-and-Valance.aspx?PfId=16573&DeptId=25389&ProductTypeId=2&prefine=Color,1|Green,1&ppos=13&Splt=0&StyleNo=3800 sage minus the valance drapes rug...

Option b) I have those same type windows over my bed and hated them until I put decorative window film on them.... I did the leaves.... and I would do the 3 windows over the bed, the door on the corner wall and those windows also. https://www.amazon.com/Best-Home-Fashion-Non-Adhesive-Frosted/dp/B00HJG363G/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1509167857&sr=8-1&keywords=decorative+window+film+and+green+leaves

First of all the carpet and the wall color are doing nothing for each other or the room. There is not enough definition between the two to enhance either one. So here is what I would recommend. If paint is in the budget I would go at least one shade darker. If flooring is in the budget I would go to a deeper color and accent with that flooring color around the room. It can be picked up in flower arrangements, art or fabric, such as pillows & bedding. Especially with the light color furniture.

One think that jumps out to me is the oddly placed windows above the bed. Could the bed be placed on another wall? Loses the dresser blocking a window? Or just remove the mirror? i think it would be dramatic to put up drapery wall to wall on the bed wall. If not covering the windows, just panels to each side of the bed would add some interest and break up the space between the sitting area. The sitting area needs a coffe table. Glass to add interest and not take up too much space visually. Add an area rug to that space also. The placement of the existing furniture seems a little off. Idk it is hard to tell from the pictures, but I think it is an interesting space and has potential

If your planning on keeping the wall paint, I would start with a comforter set in a floral pattern and paint the wall the bed on a color from the comforter and start building your color ideas from there.
