Updating Hardware With Spray Paint

As a refinisher of furniture and home decor I find many pieces that have dated or boring hardware that is still functional. How does one change it up? The easiest way is with spray paint. Let me show you just how easy it is to give new life to old hardware.
I had this cute knobs off a project dresser. Two of the drawers were damaged and unusable leaving the hardware. I thought they would work perfect on a current dresser I needed knobs for but would like in silver.

Scrub all hardware first with water and TSP with a touch of dish soap and scrub well with a brush. Once they have dried well it is time to update with spray paint. I chose Krylon satin nickel to change these brassy looking finish to a softer silver.
I like to spray my knobs in a cardboard box which makes a mini paint spraying shelter. I give them quite a few coats starting on the back side then the front, turning to get all sides, nooks and crannies

Each of the coats needs just a few minutes in my dry air garage but once they are covered to my satisfaction I let dry well before reaffixing to a furniture piece.
See them shown here on the top drawers added to silver pulls.. perfect!
the colors are endless you can use to update hardware
