I've never owned a dwarf Meyer lemon tree before and I just received mine and it has holes in the leaves. Can anyone give me tips on how to take care of this tree?

First this should be transplanted ASAP, making sure your potting soil is organic is best. Look for spider mites or any type of bug, with a magnifying glass, and then treat with a natural bug killer. Hope this helps

I like to us a Citrus fertilizer twice a year on my citrus trees. Not sure where you live, but bring mine inside my garage for winter. They will not survive freezing temps. Keep an eye out for scale also. Your county extension may have info on growing citrus. If not feel free us check out Alabama's at ACES.EDU Good luck on your new baby.

Yes, Diana is right that you need to get your tree into a regular pot. Get a small bag of citrus fertilizer and apply three times a year, making the first application about the time the tree blooms. It needs as much sun as possible. You can definitely take it outside when things warm up, but you will need to bring it in before any danger of frost. Move it to a shady spot for a couple of weeks before you bring it in in the fall so it has a chance to acclimate.

My Myers Lemon tree was actually a bush in a 3 gallon pot when I purchased it. Now that it's older, I wish that I had pruned it into a tree when it was a young plant. It's grown so large that it's become a problem while bringing it inside during the winter. I have a Key Lime tree that is 10 feet tall and it's a cinch to bring in.

Hi, I live in an apartment building and I bought seeds for an indoor dwarf lemon tree, this is my first attempt to grow a dwarf lemon tree at home, I have several other house plants, but for a tree, it's a first. I keep it in one of my windows which all face south - east. It is now about 6 - 7 inches tall, and I know it has to be transplanted real soon since I see a root coming out the bottom, its in a 6" pot. What I need to know, besides everything else that will help me grow this dwarf tree, is how do I prune it? I would appreciate any help from anyone. Sincere thanks in advance.

Hi Liz, yes the next step to re-potting would be moving it to a 10" container if you think it is root bound in the pot it's in. I use diluted Miracle Grow on my tree about once a month but a citrus fertilizer would be good too after it grows a little larger. I would use it about 3 times a year. My lemon tree came as a bush but I just rooted one of it's branches into a tree for my friend. As it rooted and grew about 12 to 18 inches tall, I started removing the bottom leaves on it's single stalk. I continued removing the bottom leaves as it grew taller. I just gave it to my friend and she will continue to remove the bottom leaves so that it will continue to grow into a tree. When it grows to about 3 or 4 feet she will let the leaves branch out at the top to make the tree. It should begin to bloom after about 3 years. However, mine bloomed much younger but I removed the bloom and let it grow taller and let it set it's leaves first. I hope this helps.
