Is it possible to paint over wallpapered sheet rock?

yes BUT you wiill see the seams, I would use a good primer that says hiding primer first though

Instead of just painting, put up the Martha Stewart beadboard wallpaper to cover imperfections of the existing wallpaper that may bleed through. Then you can paint that whatever color you like.

I wouldn't try it. A lot of people do. The paint goes right through it. Then it drags the wallpaper, and it's starts to peel. Taking off the paper in a modular home is easy, you have no high walls. Buy a paint tray and roller, and a drop cloth. Fill the paint tray with hot water, remove excess. Roll the walls from the bottom up, and scrape the paper, from the bottom up as well. After your all done. Use a bucket filled with warm water and scrub lightly to get the remainder of the glue off the walls, dry completely. Start to paint a day or two after the walls are dry. Use painter's tape to tape off the area you don't want to get paint on. Good Good Luck!

I have painted over wallpaper with success. I had wallpaper that would not come off of sheetrock without tearing the drywall up. I painted the wallpaper about 6 years ago and it still looks great. I used Sherwin Williams flat paint.

This is never a good recommendation,as down the road the paper will peel and bubble

The paint most likely will not adhere well to wallpaper. If it’s impossible to remove, check with a shop that sells high quality paint for primer that could help (Benjamin Moore)

remember that latex paint is water based and may lift the paper.

Tough job to remove paint and paper if that happens.

I did paint the walls in my daughters modular home. They are actually drywall panels bonded with wallpaper at the factory. They also placed strips over the seams. I removed the strips and filled the seams with drywall compound. Let it dry overnight. Next day I used a damp sponge to smooth out the compound. Then I primed with a good stain blocking primer. I like KILZ. Then used regular house paint on the walls. Good Luck.
