Use up your leftovers and make a cool table!
If you do anything with wood around the house, you invariably have wood scraps. And normally (for me anyway) it's tough to toss them because as soon as you do, you need them. So I toss mine in a bin.
Now, my bin is overflowing, per usual. In an effort to tidy up my workbench and surrounding areas, and to keep the overflow from overflowing, I decided to rifle through the bin, see if there was anything that could be tossed. Instead I found myself lining up pieces on the floor. Be sure to come on by my spiffy blog, Flipping the Flip, to read all the details about this and all sorts of other great projects!
Don't do like I do though -- make sure you line up all your scrap wood pieces on a level table and not the floor because you'll have to move them. Doh. I moved them in groups so the order wouldn't get mixed up. Be sure to lay down a few sheets of wax paper or something similar in case your glue leaks, that way your project won't stick to the table top. Ah ha, right?!
I used plastic resin glue as I had it on hand. But, don't panic, you could just as easily use wood glue or Gorilla glue. Give it all a good clamp, set, forget, check the next day.
Unfortunately for me, the glue leaked all over. Yay. So I ground it all off carefully with a rotary tool. A coating of paste wax which I used on our first floor bathroom cabinets and the top was good to go!
Two foot long pieces of rebar became legs which I jabbed into a little piece of 2x2, dabbed in some Gorilla glue, and waited for that to set up. I then glued the 2x2 to the underside of the table top.
And there we have it! Cute little side table! In all I spent only six bucks on making this table. Sweet! Be sure to click the link below and drop on by for lots of good reads!

Did you put any type of cap or protector at the end of the rebar? Looks like it might scrape the flooring beneath it with rough edges.

I love that you didn't cut the wood square. And love that you left it the way it was and your table is all jig jaggy. Is that a word? Lol! Thank you for sharing this with me. I have a huge garbage can full of all my scrap wood and I might just have to try this.
