Covering concrete floor- what can we do?

Cindy
by Cindy
We recently added a sun room to our homE over a existing concrete patio.
the builders said people usually cover with green outdoor carpet.
but we weren't fans of that besides we have pets to consider. We need a washable surface So we painted it..with floor paint. And it didnt hold up well. So I was wondering what else we could do? Would a garage floor expoxy work. And cover the groves made for concrete exspantion ?
thanks Cindy

If you go to your local home improvement stores, there are many more options for indoor/outdoor carpeting than green. You may find something that you really like. They have many colors, textures and even patterns that may go with the look you want.

Concrete is porous and moisture is likely going to find a way thru. Lowes and Home Depot carry sub floor panels that are 2 ft x 2 ft. They have a black plastic base covered in OSB. They are easy to put together and once the concrete is covered you can lay carpet or vinyl or laminate over it.

There are two options I can think of, the epoxy for garage floors is really hard core, I don't think even doggers could wear that stuff down however it is kinda pricey. Another option is a concrete stain but you would have to fully remove all paint from the concrete before using it.

There is an idea on home talk about using brown paper. It comes out looking like .leather. It is beautiful. They did it on the sheets of wood under carpet floors. They say it wears well.

We did our entire basement with Happy Feet vinyl and love it. Anybody that goes into our basement comments..If it gets wet, pop it out, let it dry and put it back. Beautiful..mine is a grey weathered wood look!

Artificial grass comes in many textures and colors, and it very washable. It’s just plastic. If your dogs use the floor instead of going outside or to a bathroom of sorts, your house is always going to smell like urine and feces, even if you are used to it. Artificial grass is not as sanitary as garage floor paint or outside patio epoxy. And you can get the painter to use a geometric pattern, a spatter style, or just a lovely color, that is still washable and durable. Best wishes 😇🍁
