Pumpkin for decorating?

Halloween is over. Today I bought a huge pumpkin in perfect shape for $4. I have my pumpkin for cooking pies, bread, cake (spice), and frozen smoothies. All I can think of is to put the pumpkin outside with some silk leaves—no cornstalks or place to put them. Our shrubs are all evergreen. I’ve never had a pumpkin so big and beautiful. Any ideas?

Pumpkins are beautiful Thanksgiving decorations. Keep it outside with just a few silk leaves or colorful mums around it. Paint a sign on a piece of wood and place next to it as well. The sign could say "Happy Thanksgiving

To All or any other similar sentiment.

I’ve been looking for reasons to paint little sign. That’s a great idea! 😇🍁

I think your idea of putting it outside is the best because it won't last as long if it is inside. I would elevate it a block of wood, a metal tub or cement block or you could set it on a tall flower pot. You could spray paint it a bright green (or whatever you like) to add some color. I put my pumpkins out in September on a porch that is covered but not closed in and they last until Thanksgiving.

I’m experimenting with several ideas! If I don’t put it outside by Thursday night, I’m going to bake the pumpkin and use the rind halves as serving dishes at our church’s Holiday Meal (Thanksgiving/Christmas). Thank you! 😇🍁

Shoshana, I think I’m going to take Purfictmom and your idea to paint the pumpkins, probably in several different colors. I really like that striped gourd look. Thanks for the painting suggestion. Colimbia, I have a kitchen stool inside the house I can use. Since it was 92 degrees today, I’d better keep the pumpkin inside a week or two. And Janet, my Hometalk search is next. There are three more pumpkins at church if I want them!
