My son in law lost his mom to carbon monoxide, leek from a little heater, you use when you are ice fishing. With winter weather fast coming on Please take care with little heaters ,and generators. I decided to make Bobby some little angle wings to honor his mom. Her favorite color was yellow . so the completed wings have yellow flowers on them.
I got a bag of clean white craft feathers at Walmart. I think around $2.00
Start pulling out about three feathers at a time to cut to shape ,you are only using the white end of the feather. you will cut your first feather then start cutting each feather a little smaller, as you see these three on the left. Do you see the feather mess you get all over the place mat. That is why I said work with three at a time . the largest re shaped and cut feather will be the first feather you will attach to your pattern starting at the bottom. You can look on the inter net for a free angle wing pattern. I had my wing shape from an old Christmas ornament. I just used a little drop of E600 glue and glued the first one down I worked to the top of the wing doing the same thing over nd over ,just making smaller feathers each time I then flipped the wings over to add one feather on each side .They are the same size as the first feather I used.
This is what the back side looks like On the back of this one. it has like an open clip area you slide the wing on the tree branch. You could attach from the back with some piece ribbon glued in place , you will have to get the balance of the wings and ribbon just right ,so the wings don't fall forward. You will need to play around with that.
I used this translucent ribbon and little flowers Bobby's mom loved yellow I could not find yellow in these craft flowers .So I painted the flowers yellow .After the paint dried I made the bow ,then used E 600 clear glue to glue both in place.
I think I used about ten feathers on each side of the wing Done and ready to give to Bobby You make a feather mess with this project. If you work on a dish towel you may have better luck keeping the feather mess in place.

That is so sweet of you. I was tearing up reading your post. The message about heater safety with colder as weather approaches is a great one to remind us all just how quick something can happen. Thanks for the awesome craft share and the wonderful tribute for your son in laws mother. I’m deeply touched
