What is the best paint for painting pine furniture .

There are many good paints to choose from. If the furniture has never been painted I'd suggest applying a coat of wood conditioner first which will allow an even coat of paint. I use interior wall paint in either flat, or satin finishes. Then I apply a coat of wipe on polyurethane (oil based) to seal the paint. It provides great protection. You also have the option of chalk paint & wax. Google chalk paint for the formula and process. Best of luck.

Sometimes it is not the paint that matters... it is the primer....

If your pine furniture has never been painted... use a wood conditioner like the one from Minwax on it first.... then paint and prime.

IF you want the knots hidden, you will need to prime it with BIN from Home Depot. (Buy throw away brushes for this part.) One coat on all, and triple coat the knots, letting dry between coats. (It dries really quickly.)

Then lightly hand sand. Then paint.

I suggest buying PPG/Porter Paints' Advantage 900 in semi-gloss. It is very durable, yet soap and water clean-up. You won't need a sealer.

I like sherwin williams proclassic paint. It has a nice, smooth, hard finish. But at $50/gallon, it's expensive. Find a coupon of a sale.
