Bleach splatter on my carmel colored carpeted stairs

N/caSo what a nightmare for An OCD person. I accidently splattered bleach of all things on my carpeted family room stairs. I was so upset because it's a huge eye sore for me everytime I walk down into family room aka Hubby's "man cave". I have used the trick of a colored pencil and blend it which helped for days or walking up or down. Any ideas?

Bleach spots demand colored markers! Find a set at an art store that have your carpet color (or closest approximation, you may have to mix two to get the right color). Color your spots and forget about it! This is tough on white or off-white but works well for most other colors. JH

EShaI will give that solution a try. I actually had to mix two pencil colors together and for a day or so. Wish me luck. Even thought of trying RIT coloring I think it's called. Thanks for your answer. :)

ugh, I did the same thing years ago and I couldn't stand it, so I re-carpeted.

If the colored markers don't work.... make it look like you meant to do it, or it is a pattern... a random one... but a pattern... sponge on bleach on all the stairs and let sit until the color matches.... then shampoo the stairs to rinse.

it might not be the ideal solution... but it might let you live with it until you can re-carpet or refinish the stairs.

The problem would be securing the throw rugs to the stairs and making them not move and not being a safety hazard when going up or down the stairs.... you would need LOTS of staples... which might present a different hazard. and the pieces might have edges that are a trip hazard.

Have you tried pouring strong tea on it? If that won't work what about rit dye? You could mix it in a container and use a clean paint brush to work it in. Good luck..

Thanks! These both sound like they may work. I'm going to try the tea staining first.

Until you shampoo the carpet then you may have to touch up!
