This is a project that desperately needed our attention for the last month or so, but due to well--life and the things that come with it, we put it off for as long as we could. We aren't normally procrastinators so it drove me crazy until finally I became a nag about it (so not Me!) and my husband gave in . Off to Lowe's we went to pick up the materials.
The decorative film we picked out is made by a company called Gila. It's great to use on odd shaped windows or (like we did) if you have a metal door and you don't want to drill holes in it to hang curtains or shades for privacy.
After measuring the windows, it cuts easily with a pair of scissors.
Next we peeled off the old film. It was the same kind of film, but had been installed on the outside of the door so it had started to come off due to exposure from the elements. After seven years, I still we got our money's worth.
This is hubby cleaning the inside of the glass really well because we want this film to last at least as long as the last one ,if not longer.
Before peeling off the protective backing from the film, we sprayed the glass with soapy water to make it stick.
I put an old towel on the floor to catch any drips, but that turned out to be unnecessary because super hubby is a professional at the whole glass thing. One panel at time ,he sprayed then used a small squeegee to push out the excess and the bubbles.
Finished product from the inside.
And from the outside. I hope that I've helped someone with a workable solution for those hard to fit or odd shaped windows. These films come a wide variety of designs that can be found online and at your local Lowe's.
Btw, I saved the leftovers for a diy redo on a vase or my glass coffee table or... lol, I haven't decided yet! But I'll let you know 😉
P.S. the film is super easy to use and came with instructions.

Can you see thru when it's dark out? I read where many of these work only during the daytime and do not offer privacy @ night.
