It's a Cover Up

Red Wind Studio
by Red Wind Studio
When I decided I needed to make my garage a more pleasant place for customers to come view furniture I needed something to help hide the ugly door. I thought louvered bi-fold doors would work well. I found one on an on-line auction and was the winning bidder. As you can see in the picture (to the far right sort of) it isn’t anything to write home about.
Once I moved to my new Studio which is bigger, brighter and better location I knew I still needed the bi-fold door but it could not stay looking like THAT. There is an electrical panel directly behind where I wanted my cash desk and I certainly didn’t want my customers staring at that. There isn’t even a door on it. The answer was obvious I would use the door but how do I make it look better?
I can get two functions from the door! I will paint it all the colours of FAT Paint that I am retailing and it will cover the ugly electrical panel. This is the latest colour chart. I am missing one colour which is Wasabi but I will be definitely getting it on my next order!
I started by painting the almost the entire door Raven front and back with the exception of the louvers’ fronts that would have the colours on them. I wasn’t overly careful with the brush trying not to get paint on the louvers. Once two coats were on I then got out my small brush and painted each louver. Most only needed two coats but a few light colours needed more. I finished with wax. It is a little hard to see the difference in this picture but one side is finished with natural wax and the right side has the dark wax. It is a time consuming project but the result was worth it.
There is lots of room to add all the colours the FAT Paint Company can throw at http://redwindstudio.ca/store/2014/03/19/its-a-cover-up/me.
