I was searching and searching for the perfect solution for my rental kitchen. I wanted to update it without losing my deposit. Tic Tac Tiles are sticky enough to last until you decide to move or change them out. They can easily be removed by applying heat and lifting/peeling them off the wall.
Clean your walls. Tiles should be placed on a clean, dry surface free of dust, grease, etc...I cleaned my walls with Dawn dish soap and water.
These tiles come in block and brick style. I purchased the brick style. There is one side of the tile that says "overlap here" so I overlapped the sheet over the overlap section.
Make your guideline using a chalkline or level. I didn't have either so I used the back of the counter (the part that goes up the wall) as my guide.
These tiles comes in two different kinds. There are block and brick style. I purchased the brick style. On one side of the tile sheet there is an "overlap here" tab.
You will overlap your new tile sheet on top of that area.
Cut around for your outlets using a box cutter or scissors. When you have your tiles placed how you like them, press firmly on all four sides. Continue the process to the end of your wall.
When you apply the tiles to the corner, you will need the OVERLAP HERE tabs so make sure you cut your straight edge on the opposite side
After the first row was complete, I just counted how many rows of tiles I needed for the top. I cut them and applied them on top of the bottom row.
I will have several renter friendly DIY'S for my kitchen coming soon! Please make sure to subscribe to my YouTube channel and hit the notifications to be notified of my new videos!
