My 11 and 12 year old grand kids have loved to make home made holiday fridge magnets. We use old cards ,and a catalog called Bits and Pieces .to make the magnets
Over the year, I get sheet magnet pieces ,some times for free some times at the thrift store .The white piece in the lower front is what is left after nine years of doing this project. What I found at the Good will store, was these set of six magnetics sheet's you cover a heat register with .If you want to block the heat for a room you are not using. Well I knew I was using them in another way. The only other sheet magnet I have to show you is something you can put a picture in and then put it up on your fridge . The ones I have are old ,and have dust in side them. so the cover part could be cut off ,and just the magnet part be used .also the red magnet piece was an add on a new phone book. I just saved it for this project. So this was a free project for me.
Old Christmas cards can be used for this project Cut the pictures away from the card so you don't need as much magnet that way.
Take the back off the card .It works better that way, when you are cutting out what you want. As you see it is some times fun to out line your shape with a cookie cutter , and then just draw around that, and just cut out.
Then just use good quality glue to stick them to the magnet back I use E 600 for this project,. after you have the glue on the back and the picture in place slide it around just a little ,so you know you have good glue contact to all areas. Let it dry ,flat
I cut out one of the catalog page pictures to mount on the red magnet, I had.Rubber cement is used to glue catalog pages down. those paper are thin .so it needs light handling . let that dry flat then cut out
Ok this is my free project. The lower right picture was done last year. Tomorrow when I know the glue is dry the magnet pictures will be painter over with puzzle glue,. or you could use Clear spray paint on it all. Not so much the cards but the thin paper ones on the right. If I did not have my 23 month old great grand son visiting for Christmas the snow men people would have little thing added ,like a pompom added to the end of the winter cap or little holey embellishments. A star on the tree. I just don't want thing being picked off and eaten by a toddler. I would not put up candy or cookie shapes on the fridge. When you are cutting out you magnet shaped cut over a tray or towel that way no little pieces will fall on the floor ,.for the dogs to find and eat. I never let kids play with magnet shapes with out keeping and eye on them. This is not something you want pets or kids eating. you might get a sheet magnet at Walmart or on line I checked .by just Googling it I saw some that way for 4 to 6 dollars
