I had artificial trees for years....now I go with real trees because of dismantling the trees...In the long run I can just toss out the real tree and Im done.

  • I have one but rarely ever use it, in spite of dropping needles, I want a real tree. Faux trees have come a long way and do look really nice but you get the best deals after Christmas. Shop around and compare - you need to see quality in person, not on some random computer screen, bend the arms, how well constructed, does it shed.

Hi Brigitte. I do prefer a real tree. They smell so good in the house. Every year we get a real tree but I do have a pencil tree I put into a different room. We do enjoy it and it is a lot less to take care of (watering and cleaning up needles). I found scenticles that you can put into the fake tree so it smells like a real one.

  • Artificial Christmas trees can be purchased in lots of places - craft stores, big box stores, home & garden centers, and drug stores. I recently saw them in the Dollar General. Shop around since there are lots of options and the quality varies.

I purchased an artificial Christmas pencil tree. You can get them in various configurations, such as flocked or plain, lights or not, etc. I love this tree since it takes up little space, so rearranging furniture isn’t a problem and it‘s so cute. Easy to store.

I am on my third one. About 35 yrs. ago I realized that I have an allergic reaction to sticking my arms and hands into an evergreen tree to attach lights and trimmings...itch, itch, itch; rash, rash, rash.

Bought a nice 6' one that lasted a very long time then branches began to break with age. Bought another one that I used for a while until son got his own home and I divorced my husband of 32 yrs. Now have a 4 - 4.5' pre-lit table top tree purchased from Home Depot for $39.99, and I love it. Holds nearly as many ornaments as a a 6' tree. Cover with a plastic garbage bag to keep it dust-free and move tree to the basement at the end of the season.

My philosophy is you know you are getting older when you:

    1. Buy a grocery cart to haul your food into the house; and,

    2. You buy a table top Christmas tree.

Hello Brigette ! I have two artificial trees in my home. I have one that stays up all year round Which I call my Safari tree since it is decorated with little Safari animals ( see photos ). And the other goes up every year. You can hang scenticles in between the branches for that real tree smell. I’m in love with them. No messy clean up or fire hazard. Hope this helps !
