If this is a rental, I would ask the landlord first and get him to put in writing that you can paint or epoxy the floor. Concrete paint is the cheapest solution. Staining and sealing, 2-part epoxy floor is most expensive but most durable.... you could get one of those Rustoleum garage floor kits.. come available in solid colors, granite textures, metal flake and metallics. Home store like Lowes or Home Depot, Walmart and check for sales.

You could paint the concrete, or install vinyl plank flooring. It is easy to install and comes in lots of different patterns including wood, tile, etc.

Since it is a rental, you should not alter the existing finish.

You could paint duck cloth and use it for flooring or buy a carpet remnant to cover your floor. There are click together tiles, both wood and porcelain that you could lay on top of your existing floor. As I’m thinking about it, vinyl planks and laminates can be laid and pulled back up as well!

Do you have the option to paint it? There are some great concrete paints out there, just make sure you use a good primer and seal it with something that has non-slip in it.

Thank you so much! The landlady has been dragging her feet on this for years. I don't press the as to not loose my lease. Have been 8 years come Jan 2018. Rents here are not regulated so they are extremely high. Your information is the best I have recieved. Thank you again,
