Removing stucco from ceilings

Is there a way to remove stucco from ceilings? Our new home has stucco on the ceiling and its so hard to keep clean. I really would like to remove it and have a flat ceiling?

Chances are you have a popcorn ceiling. Depending on the age of your home, you may need to have tested for asbestos before removing. It is not difficult but very very messy. Here are some links for you to check out.

You could also cover it, hire a crew to come in and spray it with an orange peal (flatter and smoother then I think you already have) Or you could glue the new styrofoam ceiling tiles right over the top of it.
You can use a garden pump sprayer filled with plain water. Lightly mist the ceiling in a small area, then let it sit for a couple of minutes. Then, scrape the popcorn off with a wide scraper. It will make a terrible mess on everything, so be sure to use lots of drop cloths to cover anything in the area.
Call in the PROFESSIONALS, ALTHOUGH IT IS A JOB MAYBE YOU COULD DO, IT IS DIRTY AND POSS. HAZARDOUS TO HEALTH.......
depending on when your house was built it could have asbestos or lead in the ceiling paint. Best to check that out first.
