I was asked to make an ornament for a friend's granddaughter, and all she said was that it was to have blue, and had to have a horse. So, I started thinking, and I remembered having a blue horse in my box of cake decorations. It's an easy project that children could do, as well as adults. I listed this as taking 2 hours to complete, only because of letting the polish dry between each color use. It didn't cost me anything to make, as I had everything at the house.
I found 3 shades of nail polish I liked.  Then went to my drawers of ribbons, and found this silver plastic canvas cord.  At the bottom is the horse I used.
The brand of nail polish really doesn't matter, so I won't list it here.  I chose a pearl polish, silver shimmered polish, and a black polish.
Then I went into my closet, and found two pearl colored pony beads.
I painted the mane, tail, and seat of the saddle with the pearl polish.  Yes, that's a splint on my thumb, I broke it the other day...we won't go into details.  lol  I then set it aside to let it dry.
Once dry, I used the silver shimmer polish to go around the saddle, and on all the straps for the saddle.  I also used it to paint the bridle that goes around the horse's head.
Next thing I did, was to paint the hooves black.  Yes, I did two horses...I figured she could pick which one she wanted, and I can sell the other one.  I used the bottom of a broken carousel to hold the horses up while they dried.
I then cut 2 strips of the cord approximately 9 inches long, using one for each horse.  I threaded both ends of one cord down into the hole in the saddle.  Next, I slipped one pearl pony bead on the cord, and tied the ends together.  I then cut off the extra cord.
The next thing I did was to tuck the tied end and pony bead up into the horse's body, making sure it doesn't show.
Next thing I had to do was to find a black ultra fine point sharpie.
I used the sharpie to color in the eyes.  There was no way I could have gotten that small a dot using the brush in the nail polish.  I could have used a toothpick, and dipped it into the polish, but this worked better for me.
A friend came over to see it, and she suggested I glitter the hooves.  I found some small white/silver glitter.  I attached the glitter by painting the hooves with clear nail polish first, then sprinkling the glitter, and shaking off the extra.
It's not perfect, but not too bad for a person with hand tremors and a broken thumb. lol
