Christmas front porch decor

Suggestions for decorating my front porch for Christmas? I like a classic look but don’t know where to start, especially since it’s asymmetric. Thanks!

That's a beautiful entry. I would start with the basics...evergreen topiaries eitherside of the door, garland around the door, once that's in place, you can add on

A wreath, first of all, and maybe some greenery hanging from the light. You can't go wrong with big red bows. You could put a smaller wreath on the welcome sign, or put a red bow around the dog's neck. I'd put a small tree on the stool with ornaments that coordinate with the wreaths and bows if it's possible. There are some books called "The Spirit of Christmas" that have all kinds of ideas and things you can make yourself. Hopefully you're close to a Half-Price Books, or check ebay or Amazon.

Put something large on the large side and 2 smaller things that are on different levels on the smaller side. Like lighted tree on the right made from tomato cage with garland and lights, a wreath on the wall above the stool, maybe some metallic paper wrapped gifts on the left below the stool and elf on the stool. Just some ideas. Maybe a second elf in front of the tree like he is putting something there.

I would pull some decorations out from the entryway. Put garland around the pole, or even better put garland across the very front of the porch. Start in the middle of the front (front white boards) to extend out to the sides and down the white board on the left. (my left as I am looking.) Stop the garland at the end of the top white board to my right. Take another piece of garland and wrap the pole. Put a wreath to the left of down slightly from the porch light. Put a red bow on the wreath on my right side, to balance the light on the left. Remove the stool. and put a container with holiday greenery in it in the corner. It should be (container and greenery) about 3-5 feet tall. Added bonus would be to remove the black door mat and replace it with a colorful Christmas door mat. Everything in a room or on a table or on a porch, etc. should have a purpose, a reason for being there. As I look at your front door, I think a door knocker in the upper crossing of the boards would be wonderful. You could use black to match the porch light. It really should match your doorknob, (hardware). To hang garland, measure how much you need to reach the entire area you want to cover. You can always tie garlands together and make it work. Then divide the amount in two. That's the center. That's where you begin hanging it at the center of the large white board at the very front of your porch. That way you know you won't have more on one side than the other. Just an idea, which is what you are looking for. Merry Christmas.

I should have read that before I sent it. In your case, you don't need to center the barland because you are not going down both sides with this string of garland. You only need to measure across the top and down one side. Sorry.

Great porch. First of all pick a color scheme. Hang a wreath on the door and garland around the post. The corner of the porch is just begging for potted greenery and some small trees, decorated of course with items in your chosen of color scheme. Then hang a holiday greeting sign next to the door above the potted plants.

Tall pencil evergreen trees on each side of the door, with lights or without. A green light bulb in your porch light and add a big red bow. If you do the porch light with bow, then put a smaller tree there so yo can still see the porch light. Place small to medium evergreen trees in urns on each side of the door. Spray paint them red or green and trim with gold paint, trim with red/green/gold bows (or silver, your choice). Or go completely gold with gold trees, gold garland around post. gold bow on porch light. Add silver ball ornaments, if your light. Oh, and a nice big bow on your welcome sign. Happy Holidays, have fun decorating!

You could also wrap the pole with red ribbon and it will look like a giant candy cane

I love the color of your porch, a neutral color that will make any holiday color pop! I would start with some greenery like a wreath, toperaries, or a grouping of different sizes of small 3', 4' and 5' trees. Next add either red, blue, green or gold colored ornaments or a mixture of the colors. Personally I would use red. You can get the trees with lights already added or use battery lights for a wreath. Add something that reflexes your personality, ribbon and bows and you will have a beautiful holiday porch that says "welcome to our home".

turn that pole into a candy cane (well candy stick lol) complete with a large green , gold, or silver bow , i see the others already have you great tips for around the door and side areas - also if your just being budget minded the red ribbon to make the candy cane is often found at the dollar stores & walmart as well as the nice enuf size bows you could also hang a coordinating bow either at the bottom of the light fixture with the bow ends flowing an extra 8-12 inches - good Luck &

    happY Holidays !!
