Using a dead dishwasher as a cabinet

Our dishwasher has been out of commission for years and it will not be replaced. The idea is to use it to store pots, pans and the like, including cast iron vessels. With that said what should be done to ensure the dishwasher is safe and sanity for use as a storage cabinet?

Great idea. Besides shutting off the water to your appliance you should be good to go.

Empty it all out. Disconnect water and wast supplies.

I agree with a deep clean then try removing any spinners for more space and maybe customize the racks to maximize the storage space.
