It's looking like the tape and mudding on my bedroom ceiling is pulling away and now that the central heat is on it looks worse. Can I repair this?

I should move your bed away from the area incase it falls in on you. Unless you are good at Plastering, I would call in a professional for their advice and a price to do the job...........

yes you absolutely CAN repair it! Are you a diy’er or need a professional? Popcorn, yes or no? I’d be happy to walk you through it.

Yes to removing the old tape. If it’s a small sections down the same joint, i would remove everything on the whole joint. I found it much easier to blend an entire joint than to make 20 little patches. Re-tape your joint and mud it. Allow it to cure with the same air as the rest of your house. (Open it up.)

i do recommend using a full size trowel. That will allow you to feather your mud away from your tape much easier.

With you having some experience under your belt with this, I have no doubt you can do this too. (Its corners where you crease the tape that it’s a little tricky.)

i check Hometalk daily, so if you have a question, I’ll be happy to answer you. Oh, razor blade, to cut old tape, but if you are just repairing a few places, just use a large scraper and gently go over it to your desired removal. The cut it with a razor knife.

If it's not due to moisture, just a poor application, it should be an easy repair. I personally hate working on sheetrock overhead, but, it can be done. If it has loosened due to moisture, take care of that problem first.

Sounds like a water leak . Doesn't normally become loose without moisture. As above, yes you can fix it, but fix the moisture problem first or you will have compounding problems.
