Adopt an outside cat from a local shelter. Built-in mouse chaser and you'll be saving a life.

Try mothballs. Put one or two under beds, behind furniture, in the back of cabinets. I stress only one or two! The smell burns the mucus membranes in the mice's nose and they leave. Once they leave, remove what is left of the mothballs. If you live in a pier and beam house throw a couple in each corner of your house. I throw a few in our attic to keep the squirrels out.

Start with some cat brushing. Hair from a cat that's been brushed. Put cat hair in several envelopes, seal. Put holes in each of them, and put them in the back of the bottom cabinets. That will chase them away for good. Replenish these every 2 months, so a new family doesn't try to settle down. Good Luck!

First and foremost: check home and seal ANY small holes mice could possibly enter the home through (and they can get through TINY holes, believe it or not). Using used Brillo pads or steel wool pads to plug holes works as mice can't chew through the steel. They don't like the smell of peppermint: buy some peppermint oil and sprinkle in areas mice previously entered or anywhere you feel is necessary throughout the home. And, although I've never tried it, I understand using fresh fabric softener sheets in mice-traveled areas deters them. Change sheets every three days... Good luck!

  • Purchase some "no-kill" traps and bait with dollar store peanut butter. They work great! I have 2 of them. Google, there are lots of no-kill traps on the market.

The most humane thing to do is to use a regular old mousetrap, put it behind furniture, and places dogs will not explore. There are also spin traps but they are not as effective as the old ones. Catch and release is bad because you are introducing a new animal in an existing environment spreading disease and disrupting the other animals.

Hi, I got rid of my mice by mixing water and a hundred percent peppermint oil weather essential or aromatherapy. I just mixed it in a spray bottle and sprayed it all over my furniture in the corners of cabinets and on the carpet. If you like the smell of peppermint oil it would be a good thing to try I know it got rid of mine and I live in a camper and they can easily get in.

We just got over an in-house mice infestation, it was just awful.

Inside we used the glue boards available at Walmart or Kmart, they work well but the mice are smart and you have to keep moving them around. Also, set up the snap traps, place them inside a small brown paper bag so cleanup is easy, just discard the mouse and trap in 1 motion.

Additionally, this is the most labor-intensive part. Take an objective friend or a family member with good vision and survey the house inside and outside for any possible areas where mice can squeeze through, they can fit through an area the size of a dime. This includes windows, doors, pipes, and wires entering and exiting the house, the foundation, yes, even the soffit area and roof (if possible). They can scale just about anything where they can get traction. From there you will need a sealant of expanding foam designed to keep them out, it has some kind of formula that cuts their faces when they try to chew through. Also the coarsest steel wool works well too, use either the foam or steel wool depending on the size of the area that is open.

    Best to you.

Mothballs at the point of entry for the mice are all that is needed, find their path, and use very little.

Pull out the mothballs and try a sonic mouse repellent? These ones have decent reviews: https://amzn.to/2ZRsHoi
