Easy DIY Fall Fireplace Mantel Sign

To me, fall is all about getting together with family and friends, whether it's for Thanksgiving dinner, a spectacular Halloween party, or a hayride through the pumpkin farm. Which is why creating a "Gather" sign to hang on my fireplace mantel just seemed like the right thing to do. It describes my view of fall perfectly!

Since I didn't want to spend a lot of money, I started with a scrap piece of plywood that I had laying around in the garage. With a little bit of paint and my Cricut, that piece of scrap wood became a focal point for my fall living room decor!

I'm not a big fan of traditional autumn colors, so I decided to go with teal for my fall decor this year. Which is what I used as the base color for this sign.

Once I got the board painted, I decided that the blue was a little too much of a contrast with my white fireplace mantel, so I decided to tone it down using a pearl white glaze.

With the board painting out of the way, I moved on to creating the rest of the sign. I used my Cricut machine to cut the leaves and text out of some framing mat board. (You can download the image files for these on my website...the link is listed at the bottom of this post).

Then I painted the letters with rose gold paint. Copper is my metal of choice for fall decorating this year, and this rose gold goes perfectly!

Finally, I used a glue stick to attach the letters and leaves to the board. Glue sticks are awesome! No mess!

The last step was to drill a couple of small holes in the back of the sign and hang it up on my mantel with nails.

Now my fall fireplace mantel is finished. And it completely describes my fall mindset of gathering with friends and family icon
