Many of us have to do lists of things to get done before the holidays, whether it's decorating, DIYing, or cleaning! One of my biggest chores that I probably don’t do enough is tackling my tiled kitchen floors. It’s SO much work to deep clean your floors and today I want to show you how you can make a DIY Tile Grout Cleaner and get your kitchen and/or bathroom floors sparkling before the holidays!
See my blog for the full recipe (may want to double or triple for large areas):
**test a small/hidden area of grout before using on your floors to ensure that it doesn’t discolor/bleach colored grout**
baking soda
peroxide
Dawn dish soap

In a bowl, mix together baking soda, peroxide, and Dawn soap. Use a toothbrush or a nylon brush to apply the mixture onto the grout. Apply it evenly for a uniform look.
Let sit for 15 minutes, then rinse with a small amount of warm water (floors will be wet). Use a rag to wipe up the mixture, gently scrubbing as you go.

Finish by using your HomeRight SteamMachine to mop the floor thoroughly. I used a few drops of Lemon Essential Oil in my steam cleaner to give it a nice scent and a little extra cleaning power.
I’d recommend steaming the floor twice after doing this. There definitely a “grit” to the mixture that will remain on the tile if not wiped off well.
The Before and After photos are completely unedited (other than the words on them).

You can tell the overall color of the tile lightens because the tile is clean, but the grout definitely improved too (some areas still need some extra TLC). I especially liked how much better the center tile looked…I gave it a good scrubbing and the grout is much more noticeable now!
See the full tutorial and grout cleaner "recipe" on my blog, The Cards We Drew! You may also enjoy seeing how I used this same steamer to clean my patio cushions!

I bought my grout cleaner from Home Depot it worked really good just apply a little of it let it sit five minutes n brush it. I got really tired sitting on floor doing it so I ordered a brush with handles from Amazon haven’t tried it yet.
