I have been wanting to do a wall in newspaper like decopauge. Any help

I want to use newspaper articles as decoupauge on my wall. I was told to use modge podge to glue them on and to put it on top to coat so that the polyurathane don't smear the ink when I top coat it. If I coat it first with modge podge, will that turn clear, so the articles can be seen clearly? Please help. I have wanted to do this for a long time and don't have a clue. Any advice and tips are greatly appreciated.
This is the ugly wall in question.

Why don't you test some newspaper that you know you're not going to use on the wall: On some wax paper spread the Mod Podge on the newsprint and see if that alone causes it to bleed or run--then you will know if you can or cannot use it. If not, you could copy the newsprint onto copy paper on your printer and try that, although some ink jet ink will run. Laser ink is used when that is a problem, and you could have your stuff printed at your local office supply store. I suggest you test each material with the Mod Podge. Once you find materials that will work, then try the polyurethane over that. Make sure you request or find a non-yellowing finish. It's my little bit of knowledge, hope it helps.

Good idea. Better practice first, back of door in laundry room. If you wriggle paper a bit = texture can push flat with ruler or spatula

mod podge, as well as a white glue/water mixture will dry clear. Just try to apply it evenly so there are no clumps that will take longer to dry completely

It's not applying it evenly that is the problem, it's making sure there are no bubbles. Be sure to apply the Mod Podge and work from the center of the article outwards too be sure there are no bubbles under it. They are very difficult to remove once they are there, because they normally aren't visible until the Mod Podge starts to dry. I'd suggest working working on the wall in pieces, just in case this happens. It's easier to just remove the bubbles article and put something else in its place than it is to try and remove the bubble (although it CAN be done).

My brothers owned a store and they used this idea to cover the bathroom walls. They thought it took forever to cover. They wished they had used large pieces of the newspaper to cover the walls and used the individual articles as accents On top of newspapers. It looked very cool. Have fun!
