Bring These Old Folks Out of the Dark!

I made a collage of old photos to decorate tissue boxes.
Everyone has a box full of ancient photos,  all of people nobody in the family remembers anymore.  I was hunting around for some black and grey accent pieces  for the house when I stumbled across a whole bunch of these pictures.
And here are some more. There are at least 400 of these old pictures stored at my place that we found at Gramma's house when she moved out. Most of these belonged to her mother, so we imagine many are a century or so old. I picked out some that were duplicates to do my project. Also some that are just plain fun! By the way, Gramma is 102 years old, bless her!
I had two of these plastic tissue box covers that were the wrong colour for our new décor. I arranged some pictures in collages for each side of the boxes. They had to be trimmed a little. I used approximately 12 to 16 photos per box.
Then it was just a matter of pasting them down, then applying a two layers of Mod Podge. The pasting process was a little messy, as the pictures were somewhat curled, so I had to hold them down until the glue set. I used Mod Podge as the glue too.
Finished project. They are fun to look at and it's a way to give these groovy old pictures some exposure (pls. excuse the pun!).
Suggested materials:
  • Plastic small square tissue tissue box holders   (On hand, but can be purchased at the dollar store)
  • Mod Podge   (Walmart)

What a thoughtful way to use very old pics. I have a box of those around, as well. Now I know what to do with the duplicates. :)
