Hi there, Hometalk Friends! This time of year, I'm always busy sprucing up my home before the holidays. Recently, I updated my four vintage dining chairs using two different types of chalk paint. Though it wasn't my original plan, it just worked out that way! If you're planning DIY projects before the holidays or have just been curious about chalk paint, check out how they turned out and what I learned!

So why would I use two different types of paint on my chairs? Well, originally I started by painting two of my dining chairs from red to white. At the time, I liked the idea of using mismatched chairs--two of each color.
I used my go to chalk paint, Americana Decor Chalky Finish in Everlasting. Find it here! However, after living with my mismatched chairs for a few months, I was over it and decided I was ready to paint the other two!
It just so happened, that around the time I was planning to paint the last two, I won 2 cans of Rust-Oleum Chalked spray paint in giveaway from another blogger. Find it here!
Can't beat free right? I'd never tried it before, but I chose white, hoping to get close to matching my already painted white chairs. Well what do you think? The previously painted chairs were photographed during the summer. In my kitchen, I can't tell them apart!
So here's what I learned: I can honestly say I love the chalky finish from both paints. I had been skeptical that a spray would provide the same finish. For projects that include a lot of ornate, curlicue details like my chairs--the convenience of the Chalked spray is hard to beat. However, there are projects that just can't be spray painted, for those I'll stick with Americana Decor.
