Is there a paint to change the colour of a solid fuel range as shown.

I would like to paint it brown. Also what could I do with tiles at back of stove. Any suggestions for bricks that have turned black from smoke.

That is a really great feature to have in your home. Paints for an outdoor grill will do the job although 4 out of 5 are black. Paint called "Stove Bright" is out there and comes in colors including metallic and gloss browns and tans.

As for cleaning soot from the brick, you likely won't get it all off even using TSP, but it's worth a try to knock it back a little. You could clean and paint the brick but you are removing the patina and history. People pay large dollars for artificial history and you have the real thing.

There are various heat resistant paints on the market now so yes you can change the colour to anything you want . Bear in mind that your stoves original paint would have powder coated and baked on making it very hard so you have to remove that first not an easy job . I would suggest you find a local spray shop that do powder coating, they will guide you through the paint process and removal of old paint by more than likely sandblasting it off. This of course means the removal of the stove which is a good thing as it will enable you to remove all the rubbish the stove has encrusted over the years giving you a more efficient stove and maybe modify to put in a second burning system.if you don`t have one . cutting down your tar deposits . As for the tiles ,any tile will do really just make sure all the adhesive and grout is dry before stove is fired up . If you wanted you could initially put your tiles onto a non flammable board then fix the board to the fire surround .

Start by pulling the stove outside. Then you can clean or replace the stovepipe. This is the best time to have your chimney cleaned by a professional chimney cleaning. You can try to remove the tiles in the back, or cover them with a concrete board meant for tiling in bathrooms. Then apply new tile. I think a light shade of that new wood-look ceramic floor tile would look super. Then turn your attention to the stove. Visit some fireplace/woodstove dealers in your area and ask if they paint stoves. Not many do, but your better dealers do, or may know of someone. Stove paint now comes in many colors, but pick one that reflects the original era of the stove. If you want to paint it yourself, thoroughly clean it inside and out. Remove handles and anything you can. Then you need to sand the surfaces with very fine sandpaper to get a rough surface for the new paint to adhere too. After thoroughly cleaning again to get rid of all dust, you can spray paint it in several very light coats. Do not apply too much paint at once or it will run. Let dry for a day or two, then reinstall. Good Luck!

I had a natural gas Dearborn heater and spray painted it white with a high heat glossy paint that I found at a Walmart. Turned out beautiful and held up to months of high heat.

I Had a stone mason offer a recipe for soot removal. (It worked quite well but not perfectly. My stone is granite, so your results will vary)

Laundry detergent + bleach + HOT water in a bucket... Generate FOAM as you fill the bucket. Use a Large sponge and apply the FOAM to the wall. Repeat if desired.

Thank you all for your replies. That was very helpful. I only intend to do the white doors as that is the part I dislike the most. The rest of the stove is brown already and would only need a touch up. I hope to put in a new kitchen soon and that is why I need to upgrade it.

Rustoleum makes a "High Heat" paint just for this purpose. It comes in several colors, either in a spray or a regular paint can. It works like a charm- we used the matte black to touch up some dings on our pellet stove.
