Measure the length and width of the area to be painted. Then multiply L x W and that's how many square feet you'll need to cover. The paint store can give you an approx. # of sq. ft. that a gallon will cover.

    Yes to the primer.

Use a stain blocking primer that has been tinted the same color as the paint you will be using.

Hi Mika82. I have noticed, alot of Home Talkers are using unicorn spit on furniture. I have not tried it yet, but It is very popular amongst the Home Talk community. They are gettibg it at store's like, mickle's, lowers, HobyLobby I think. Depending on where you live as to where you would goe. I live in Austraila so it's a local Harwear store for us. Check out some Home Talk post's where Home Talkers are using Unicorn Spit. Good luck hope this info is usfull. Kay Adelaide Australia

I just did this, paint store expert told me to start by cleaning/prepping with TSP, then use Kilz paint as a base before using my picked color. I was told to use a Kilz that had a grey base and it worked great!

We painted our entire living room that was all dark wood paneling. Get a good primer. If you have more of a real wood paneling that can contain sap, use the Kilz primer especially for wood. Then use whatever interior paint you would like! You'll probably need at least 2 coats, so buy a decent brand with good coverage.
