How To Make A Beautiful DIY Air Dry Clay Heart Dish

I had such a blast making this DIY air dry clay heart dish. I’ve always admired anyone who works with clay and wanted to give it a try myself. It was so much fun! I know I have a huge learning curve but for my first try, I love what I made and am super proud of it. Have you ever wanted to work with air clay too? Well, if you follow the steps it’s so much fun and you will love the results too.
What’s nice about working with this Craftsmart Natural Clay is you don’t have to bake it and it’s very forgiving too. And there is no kiln needed! This all-purpose, air-dry clay is ideal for sculpting, hand modeling or throwing on a potter’s wheel. You get to air dry your finished pieces and then decorate your creations with paint.
You can use anything to mold your clay project too like cookie cutters or your favorite bowl. I fell in love with this brass heart-shaped dish I had and wanted to make a clay replica.

Here’s a list of what you will need to get started:
- A cookie cutter or your favorite bowl
- Natural Air Dry Clay
- Rolling Pin
- A little cup of water
- Sandpaper
- Paint – I used Fusion Mineral Paint in Raw Silk and Chalk Paint and Gilding Wax for some of the hearts.
Waiting for this DIY air dry clay to dry was the hardest part!
Once the clay dries, you can decorate any way you like! I used a heart-shaped cookie cutter and had fun creating a fun pattern.
