Has anyone painted a return air grille a color besides white?

I am considering using a hammered dark bronze spray paint.

That would be pretty. I haven't used this paint on an return air grill (do have one that needs to be painted though) but I have used it on a brass-finish display shelf unit and it turned out great. I was worried about it adhering to the finish on the shelf unit but I've had no problems with it at all and that's been about 10 years ago.

We have painted them the color of the room. In our case "wheat". They blend more.

Spray paint will not adhere to smooth surfaces. Scuff them up with sand paper, wire brushes, etc. Wipe off with paint reducer. Let dry then. Spray a good primer. When primer is dry sand very lighty with 400 grit or finer grit.

VERY LIGHTLY. Wipe Lightly with reducer again. Let dry THEN PAINT!!!

    hello!!

paint it the same color at the wall...it will help it to blend into the wall. Most of the time they are stuck in the most obvious of places. Randy

Yes! All of my grills are painted to match the wall color they are on. Spray paint or regular paint applied by a brush both work.
