Need to cover vinyl windows from lake water spray

I live on Lake Erie and we are in our 3rd year of high water. The spray from 6-9 ft waves splashes against my bay window and patio door. Afraid rocks with come through. Any suggestions for covering them up.

Put something in front of them that will break up the waves before they hit, like a large box planter or a half wall (put a little distance between break and the windows.)
Shutters are a good idea to protect the windows
Glad you like it. Our home faces east and I really enjoy the morning light, but it can too bright so we put a bamboo roller shade between the porch support posts (about 3 to 4 feet in front of the window) that allows the daylight in but blocks the direct sun light.
