My sister commissioned me to hand paint a mirrored cabinet, in preparation for her newly refurbished bathroom.
The cabinet was originally varnished wood, with a central mirrored door. The display shelves on the outside are connected together internally.
Inside the cabinet, showing shelf detail.
Initially, I considered painting the whole cabinet. However, the internal wood was in good order...so I decided to take it apart and paint only the exposed parts. Each section was carefully labelled!
(Image displays an optical illusion!)
Preparation is the key to success. After a light sanding of all parts to be painted, I used masking tape & cling film to cover the remaining areas.
My sister had requested a pale grey colour which would complement her bathroom.
I used 'Dove Grey' chalk paint.
Side pieces.
'Frog Tape' crazy! This masking tape makes a good, clean edge and ensures 'very sharp lines' after painting.
Two coats of paint were applied. Once dry, a generous application of wax provided the correct finish.
Time to re-assemble the 'jigsaw pieces'.
Voila!
