Stain allows the natural wood to show through but you'll most likely need to repeat the job in the future. Paint is more protective of wood. Generally speaking, paint resists rot, mold, and sun damage better than other options. It is also easier to clean most of the time.

Its Pressure treated so you dont have to do neither one, if you dont want to. But I think the best choice if you going to do either paint or stain would be Behr Solid Stain. It looks and goes on like a paint but it will last for years without pealing and stuff like paint does. Ive used Behr Stain for years and its exceptional !!!!! HOPE THIS HELPS YOU DECIDE

Hi Dan. I prefer stain because you can see the wood grain through the stain. It just depends what look you want to achieve. They also have a semi solid stain that still lets you see a little grain but also gives coverage of a paint. If the stain wears off it is not as noticeable as it would be for a solid stain.

    Hey Dan...

Matter of taste. I’d recommend stain. Keep in mind that stain will wear as paint may chip off and look horrible in time. Use a semi-transparen stain so the wood grain shows through. Nice result!

    Good Luck!! Randy

Staining is best, especially if nice wood.
