What can I do with old half gallon Ball canning jars ?
I scored about 10 of these half gallon Ball canning jars at a garage sale. I would like some ideas on what to do with them.
Put all the bits and pieces of bar soap into a separate liquid soap container, ( regular pump, not the foaming pump) add water, and shake well. Every day give it a good shake, open the lid, and mash up the bits with a fork. It is important to not skip this step, as just leaving the bits in the container will cause them to get stuck in the pump rod if they are not mushed up enough. Before long, the contents will be mixed up enough to use as liquid hand soap.

A friend advised me to make a pouch by sewing 2 facecloths together (only on 3 sides) and inserting the small bits into it. Hold open end together with some type of fastener (velcro might work) and use as a wash mitt.
Melt it. carefully, in an old saucepan and then pour it into some type of mold and you have a new bar of soap. You probably have something around the house to use as a mold or you can buy some different shaped molds.
You can grate them and make them into liquid soap
Cut them up into your washing machine. Small pieces. Might b able to put less detergent in.
I've seen them collected in a piece of old panty hose, ( the feet ) and used in the shower like regular soap with the added scrubbing benefit of the hose.
