Fill in with sand and make a fire pit in the middle being careful to stay away from the wooden deck. Hot tub maybe, Could always fill in with good soil and make it a garden. Nice place for sculpture or a fountain.

That would make a great deck level with the rest of the deck or a step down deck with a firepit.

How about a nice gazebo? Or maybe just bring the level of the deckg over the empty space so you have one large deck?

Can you cut the circle in half and take that half away so you have a semi-circular deck? Use the wood that you remove to finish it off? It will be nearly impossible to make what's there look like anything other than what it is

Build a lower level deck with stairs down to it and a circular railing around the top deck to keep people from falling into that lower level. Then build either a separate fire pit in the center or maybe an outdoor grill and refrigerator Center. You could put some hammocks there possibly or make it into a protected stargazing area for night time. Lots of fun things you could do.

I would put a railing around the middle with steps down and put a garden in the middle with benches and maybe a nice bench swing.

We had an old pool on a property that we purchased that was put in when our home was built in 1967 and had never been maintained nor updated. So needless to say, it was in terrible condition!

After checking to find out what would be needed to make the pool at least functional and up to current codes, it was far too expensive to do. So we opted to fill it in with A LOT of dirt which was packed down hard with a Bobcat (farm equipment) and planted grass over top. We then waited about a month to give the dirt time to settle and pack down more, to be certain that there wouldn't be any sinking or low spots. After that we placed large cement pavers down across the top and built a pergola, to include a BBQ area, as well as, a large outside dining area ( no fire pit) just the basic family get together "fun space ".

Hope this idea helps with your decision!

Oh my God!!! As soon as I saw this, I envisioned a beautiful raised garden in the center, at ground level!
