We have used the "AMDRO" line of ant products and have had good success... but keeping them away is a matter of persistence and follow up... eventually a new colony moves in...

AMDRO is a great product, but we also use a mixture of 4 parts sugar to one part Boric Acid. Mix the two together really will in a disposable plastic cup before adding HOT water. Then stir. If you use level teaspoons of the two ingredients a half cup (like the red Solo cups) of water is sufficient. It's not rocket science, so don't overthink it. The ants won't know. :) DO REMEMBER, the Boris Acid, like the AMDRO is a poison, so keep it away from kids, pets, and really dumb people.

Identify the ants path. I sprayed outside points where they are more likely to enter the house with raid ant killer. (if using raid doesn't bother you, use it inside also along baseboards windows etc... be careful not to use it near anyfood preparation or personal contact) clean all areas with a mixture of dawn dish soap ammonia and water. I am not one to measure exactly I take a standard bucket of hot water a small squirt of dawn and a cup of ammonia. Then I rinse areas with bucket of hot water and ammonia well. Tuck bay leaves around where the ants may like to hang. Tuck the bay leaves behind the cookie jar coffee pot etc... Continue to keep all surfaces clean and food sealed well.

  • packaged cornbread mix that says it is sweetened and put it where they are coming in if you can find it, or even on your counter in a small lid. They will take it to the mound, everyone will eat it and die, they can't digest the cornmeal, but will take it because it is sweetened. Little goes a long way.
