Solandra Maxima losing leaves

Does anybody know why my Solandra Maxima is losing it's leaves? It was in a friends verandah but is now in my sitting room. Is it too cold or not enough sun? It has been losing leaves since it arrived and only the small ones are left. I have cut it back. Too much too little water? Thank you.

These are evergreen when kept in warmer climates, but can become deciduous and lose leaves when kept in cooler areas.

We received our Solandra for a wedding present 30 years ago. It has been a house plant for all those years. The plant has been a happy and healthy for all that time. It blooms profusely around Christmas. You can definitely grow these indoors!

Also, our Solandra loses all its leaves in the spring. The plant looks dead for an uncomfortable amount of time. DO NOT THROW THE PLANT AWAY!!! The leaves come back and the plant flourishes. The plant is super easy to propagate from cuttings and we’ve given tons of plants to friends who mistakenly thought their plant had died and threw them away in spite of our warnings.
