I need someone to identify this type of tree for me please

It looks like a Tree Sorbaria

I know you're in a cold climate, but this almost looks like a white crepe myrtle tree. But I am not a botanist.

I have a neighbor with a tree like this and he said it was a Chinese Fringe tree...not saying yours is, but it sure looks like his

I suspect it's a Japanese Ivory Silk Tree Lilac (Syringa Reticulata), hardy to zone 3 and which grows 20 to 30 feet tall.

it could very well be the Japanese Lilac (beautiful, fragrant flowers) but it also looks like a Chestnut tree...there are many varieties though; Chinese, Japanese, European....and the extinct American Chestnut...

I'd take a small branch to a plant nursery. If they can't answer find your local county extension office or a chapter of Master Gardeners to help.
