Should the LR curtain rod have a personality or should it be white?

Ceiling is white and the rod touches the ceiling. Curtains are orange sheers. Someone suggested the rod should be brushed nickel but I don't know if I want the rod to draw attention. Please advise.

It is really just a matter of personal taste. So, just in my opinion, a dark rod would look nice and create contrast from the ceiling. It would draw your eye, but I think it would look nice against the orange and the ceiling. A dark metallic gray or even black.

    Black nearly always looks classy.

having a brushed nickel curtain rod would bring the room all together because it would balance out the grey from your furniture and help the curtains stand out a little more.

I personally would not use a colored curtain rod unless you want to draw attention to that area

It;s your home, It shows what you like and doesn't need the approval of other to be right for you.........!

  • All a matter of personal taste and style. Rod goes with the style of the room. I have wrought iron in my living room, brushed nickel in a bedroom, antique bronze in another room. If it looks good to you, it works!

I agree that this is your home = your taste. You could spray the rod a gray to tie in with the couch and if you don't care for it, spray it back white.

THIS DECISION is up to you as many have said. If you want to change it to a metal look or different color. There are all options in spray paints you could use. If you don't like the change as Robyn said to spray it back to white. Good luck

It’s YOUR home = YOUR choice. That said ... IMO I would make the rod either black or pewter to give the eye a stopping point & to frame the window area. Leave the rod brackets white. BTW I LOVE your curtains!

I personally think it looks Perfect as is and you are right you don’t want the attention or eye to focus on a rod, is soft ,colorful and very put together 📌🎄

If you change the color, your blinds are one color, then the orange curtains, why bring in a third color in the rod? This way it blends with the blinds and you can bring color somewhere else in your home. Curtain rods are not where I want everyone to focus on especially if you close the curtain at all. Focus is on the curtain and blinds and everything else in your home. The rod goes just the way it is.

The beauty of home decor is that anything goes - and don't let anyone else tell you otherwise! Use whatever rods look good and make you happy. There are not right or wrong ideas in decor----- just look at decorating books, magazines, and websites and you will see that beauty is in the eye of the beholder!

The white looks great as it is. If I could, I might get a long copper pipe (or paint a curtain rod copper). But please yourself! 😇

Looks great as it is. Do what pleases you.

It appears from photo that the white utilitarian type drapery rod may have been used in lieu of a more decorative type drapery rod because there is nowhere to mount the support brackets to prevent the rod from sagging, except for the ceiling. It looks like the blinds are mounted inside window frame and that the windows go to the ceiling which doesn't leave many rod options unless you want to spend a lot on high end custom rods that do have ceiling mount option. For a more finished look you could add a short fabric valance top treatment across the top to cover the white rod and the top of the blinds/window frames.

It is a fairly simple project for a dIY'er. A stripe or geometric print fabric combining the grey, orange and white in a simple box pleat style stapled or Velcro on a 1x 3 pine board would be ideal. Mount it to the ceiling with "L" brackets but bring it out a few inches from window and the orange draperies when doing so to give it some depth and so you can freely close the draperies if you choose.

Here are a couple suggestions of suitable fabrics but many more available. Lots of tutorials online with how to's. Do a search for "how to make a box pleat valance".

To keep it simple put one pleat on each corner and one pleat centered where each drapery panel hangs for a total of 4 pleats. The pleats will make it hang better. If you live in an area with intense sun, line it with a blackout lining to protect fabric from fading and will also make it hang nicer.

I've also used a pleated bedskirt that had perfect colors and trims to make a valance. Basically cut out the portion that goes under mattress leaving enough of that fabric to wrap around and staple to board and it is a very fast easy project that looks professional.
