Hi Estella. You could cut the clothing into squares and make a quilt out of them.

make a quilt of a few of your favorites. Pass the rest on to someone who can use them and her spirit can live on in all that you do

do you know anyone who makes quilts? You could make a memory quilt from her clothes

  • Hi Estella, so sorry for your loss. One idea is to take pictures of the items you have a hard time letting go of and keeping the photos handy whiie you donate the actual article. I am sure someone will be very lucky to have some nice clothes. You could also repurpose some of the items into throw pillows, Christmas ornaments (think soft stuffed snowmen or trees) or patch together a scarf with some of the fabrics. You will know when the time is right to let go, they are only things but the love you obviously have will never go away.

You can donate them to a nursing/memory care home where you know Mom's peers will wear them. Or, use some to create things such as pillows for your home so you can continue to see them.

Don’t think of it as throwing them away. Think of it as donating them to others that really need them. Have someone there with you to encourage you. Have someone there that that is the right size to try them on to see if they want any of the clothes. Set yourself a deadline. Keep track of what you donate for tax purposes.

You could also make a quilt from them.

I feel this is part of the grieving process. If you have sisters or brothers ask for their help.

    I wish you the best.

think of how you can repurpose the clothing.depending on what the items are,you can make a memory picture in a design, cut out a favorite section of a piece of clothing and put it in a scrap book, etc. When my Dad passes I found comfort in donating his items to charity and only keep a few mementos

I always think of the joy those items will bring another when I donate them to Goodwill and also how Goodwill helps so many people with job training.
