Dare to go Art Deco? Our stencil patterns can help you achieve this glammed-up Gatsby style easily. Incorporate interesting shapes into your decor by adding a geometric stencil pattern. A statement piece, like a dresser, can instantly make an impact and also add that Art Deco flair to a neutral space. Come see how we put an Art Deco spin on an old dresser.
Erika, our in-house craft guru, is known for her furniture makeover projects. She scooped up this old wooden dresser at a local garage sale.
It was beat up but had a ton of potential.
The first thing she did was clean off any debris. Then she primed the dresser using STIX Primer in White.
Once the primer was dry, the dresser was ready to be painted. Erika chose to paint the dresser in black using Benjamin Moore Paint. She painted the dark hue using a dense foam roller.
Erika browsed our large collection of stencils and chose an Art Deco style pattern. The Lexington Craft Stencil makes a bold statement with classic deco styling. She used the small size for this project because she wanted to paint it on the front of the drawers.

Erika applied spray adhesive to the back of the stencil. We like to use Sticky Note spray adhesive which can be purchased on Amazon. Then she placed the stencil on the front of the dresser.
For the stencil color, Erika used Modern Masters Pale Gold. She used a 4" dense foam roller to paint the pattern.
Erika had to pick up the stencil and reposition it to complete the pattern across the front. She lined up the stencil using the registration marks.
She made sure she rolled off any excess paint on a piece of paper towel.  Too much paint will cause the design to bleed. Then she painted the entire pattern on to the dresser. Once the entire design was painted, Erika lifted the stencil back to reveal the pattern.
She continued to paint the pattern across each drawer front.
Are you ready to see how Erika's stenciled dresser turned out? Here it is! Erika's 'go bold or go home' attitude certainly paid off with this piece.
This interesting piece will add wow factor to any space.
Erika placed her stenciled dresser against a jewel toned wall for a dramatic look. It feels luxurious and glamorous. We love it!
