Our pantry is an awkwardly-shaped space; I have been wanting to do something about it for quite awhile and finally over the long weekend, my husband and I tackled the project!
Left side of pantry
The shelves go back way too far -- resulting in useless space as you can neither see nor get to anything in the back.
Right side of pantry
THIS space is incredibly awkward...as you can see, there's an alcove in the back that goes back a good few feet...way too deep, and you definitely can't get to anything back there because everything in front would have to be removed. NOT a very efficient use of space!

Pantry entry
This is what you see when you open the pantry door after we removed the metal shelving brackets and the wooden shelves. Now we're ready for a fresh start!
IKEA Billy Bookcases go in
We purchased 3 Billy Bookcases from IKEA - the one that goes in the middle was the widest, with 2 narrower ones on either side. As you can see, we had to partially build it inside the pantry because we couldn't get it in had it been assembled outside.
Beginning to organize
Now that the bookcases were in, the "real" work begins! I had collected various canisters to use for this project and began migrating items we removed into new canisters. The canisters on the top with the chalk labels came from Ross; the glass jars with the white screw on tops I ordered from ULine -- although I paid a lot for shipping, it was STILL cheaper than buying the same amount from Amazon and getting free, 2-day shipping! Always keep your eyes open for things that can make your life more efficient. :-)
Middle section now organized!
Ahh...organization truly makes my heart happy! The top shelf is flours and sugars, the 2 next shelves are pastas, rice, and noodles, the fourth shelf is canned good and soups, the fifth shelf is snacks, and the bottom shelf is my daughter's health stuff (protein mixes, etc.) It is VERY clear where everything goes, and there is room for everything!
Baking supplies
I love to bake, so the narrow shelf on the right side is designated for all of my baking stuff...the top is baking soda, baking powder, etc., the next shelf is mixes, the third shelf is cake mixes, the fourth shelf is syrups, the fifth shelf is sprinkles and extracts, the next shelf is some tools I use, and the bottom shelf is for my cupcake liners. I couldn't take a photo of the narrow shelf on the left, but it houses breakfast cereals, oatmeal, teas, coffees, cocoas, and other drinks.

It took a long time to get the project done, but it has made our life SOOOO much easier -- and eliminated duplicate items, fallen items, etc. It was definitely worth the wait!

Thank you! When we took everything OUT of the pantry initially, my husband swore there was no way I'd get everything back in LOL
