How to clean up from home made bread

When I make home made bread, I put the dough in a buttered dish and cover with a towel.
After it rises the dough is dry on top so when I roll it out to make cinnamon rolls I have little dry lumps of it In the dough. How can I stop that.

cover with clean damp rag, not a dry one... or plastic wrap.

When you put the dough in the bowl, turn the dough around to coat with butter. If your oven has a pilot light, put an oven proof bowl or pan of water on the lower rack and rise your dough in there. A damp cloth will also help.

When you make the dough and put it in the bowl to rise, flip the dough over once to get butter on the top and all over the dough. I use a sheet of clear plastic wrap over the bowl with a towel on top of that. That should help with the hard, lumpy dough. Good luck!
