Converting a finished basement to studio living area

I will be living in my daughters finished basement and would like to segregate the bed area without making permanent walls for that area. Bookcases are not ideal as my grandson may knock them over and get hurt.

Use a premade screen like a Shoji screen. Block it with a trunk or a piece of furniture. Teach the child to stay away from it!

I used to work in a residential home & we had almost this exact problem with an emergency admission who had to sleep in one of the lounges.
Fortunately, social services had plenty of storage & would hoard old furniture. We simply brought in enough wardrobes to partition the room whilst still allowing access. We then bought some long floorboards - approx. 12ft x 6" x 1" and put these across the backs to join them all together. It worked well for the couple of months we had the guy.
Of course, these days, modern wardrobes from such as Ikea are designed to be modular & there are holes in the sides which allow them to be joined together to form a wall.
hang a nice blanket or tapestry from the ceiling.
