I made these stockings in memory of my husband's Grandma (she passed away earlier this year).these in memory of Slav's Grandma (she passed away earlier this year).
She was a very kind, caring person, full of love and wisdom.
She also loved crafts, and as many people who were born before WWII, she never threw out anything usable.
When we met 16 years ago and I told her, I love to craft, she started to send me different bits and pieces she thought I will use one day. Trimmings, buttons, zip-locks etc.
Two days ago I've found a huge plastic box, stuffed with "treasures" ...
The tangled cotton trimming was at the very bottom of the box. It was one of the first things she gave me.
It was a ravel of disaster, but I decided to wash it, iron and use ...
So, here it is ... Christmas Stocking in a blessing memory of Granny Vera.
The ravel of disaster
After washing and ironing
Draw the stocking on a piece of paper (parchment), pin it to the chosen fabric, outline the shape, add an extra 2cm and cut it out (you can fold the fabric and make 2 pieces at once). Repeat the process with ornament parts (the heel part on my stockings)
"Construct" the ornaments and attach it to both parts of the stocking. Then sew two parts of the stocking together.
"construct" the top part of your stocking ( the length = the width of boot-top X 2 + 4cm)
Sew it together
Make a hanging loop
Attach the top ornament and loop to the boot-top as shown in my picture.
Turn it outside out
Ta-dah!!!
