Indoor or outdoor? It really depends on where you live. Where I live there is no reception whatsoever, you are forced to have cable or dish service. And it is a major racket, lots of $ just so I can watch the traffic, weather and a couple measley programs. Here are a couple links - hope they help!

I use an outside antenna and I get tons of channels.
When I cut the cord to stream, I went to the electronics section of our big box store and the guy made a recommendation based on what worked in our area for most customers.... I didn't listen cause it was more expensive but he said I could return it if it didn't work, I did return it and get the one he recommended the next day. I have done this for quite a few clients, and it really varies from where they are from the broadcast tower.

I have an inside antenna. It's very thin and picks up tons of stations. It's best near an exterior window, and you would be surprised how simple it is to move around. They come with velcro to hold them to the glass, but, I found it didn't hold well after being in the sun. So I put a command hook to hang it from. How many you get will depend on how many local stations you have and your elevation.
My friend uses clear vision & gets quite a few channels
